Brief to final copy, step by step.

No mystery stages. Here's what happens, how long each piece takes, and who's holding the pen at each point (sometimes it's you).

The steps

  1. You get in touch.

    Owner
    You
    Time
A quote request gets a reply within one business day, a free copy review within three. Send the form or call.
  2. Brief.

    Owner
    Both
    Time
A 20 to 30 minute call, or a written brief if you'd rather. We ask about your customers, your offer, and the pages or voices you like and don't like.
  3. Quote, agreement, deposit.

    Owner
    Both
    Time
The quote is valid for 30 days. Work starts when you accept it in writing (email is fine) and the 50% deposit is in.
  4. Research and outline.

    Owner
    Us
    Time
Inside your turnaround, below. We read what you sent, look at your competitors, and map the copy before writing it. On bigger jobs we send the outline for a quick nod.
  5. First draft.

    Owner
    Us
    Time
Per the turnaround table. You get the draft by email in a document you can comment on.
  6. Feedback, one consolidated round.

    Owner
    You
    Time
Send it within 14 days of delivery. One set of notes from one decision-maker. We revise and send it back. You get two rounds.
  7. Final delivery and invoice.

    Owner
    Us
    Time
The balance is due within 14 days of delivery. Invoices go by email.
  8. The copy becomes yours.

    Owner
    Us
    Time
When the invoice is paid in full, we assign you the copyright in the final copy, in writing.

Revisions, defined

A round is one consolidated set of feedback, sent within 14 days of delivery. You get two. Revisions refine the copy inside the original brief: tone, clarity, structure, wording, facts you correct. A new direction, a new audience or extra pages is new work and gets its own quote. More rounds on the same brief are $85 an hour, quoted before we start.

Revisions are how we fix problems with the copy. They aren't a refund guarantee. The full wording is in our terms.
